The first noel…
Christmas and New Year were fab! Over Christmas, we had guests in the big house and family visiting us in our cottage. There was lots of prep in advance and both Aulagnes and our own place looked beautiful, decked out with Christmas trees and decorations and all the trimmings. The local village Blanzac was decked out too and every weekend the local Christmas markets showcased all the local talent. On Christmas eve, our guests gathered for aperos which was really sociable and lots fun and on the day itself, after attending mass in the beautiful Notre-Dame Benedictine Abbey in Montmoreau, we enjoyed a special dinner together.
The goose (another ‘first’) turned out nicely with just a little nostalgia for the absent turkey! A few days later, and we were getting ready for a new set of guests in the big house and friends coming to visit us for the New Year. Three washing machines on the go, and thanks to amazing industrial driers in Chateauneuf, we turned both houses around in no time – learning more every day about how to run a B&B!
